Our Vision Statement
The Youth Group at All Saints’ will work to develop an atmosphere where we can experience and feel the love of Christ. It will be a place where we feel safe to be ourselves and to ask questions and where we will be able to deepen and strengthen our personal relationship with God. We will learn, grow and have fun as we explore our identity as children of God. We will reach out to the community, seeking to involve people who may not have participated in the past. We will encourage participation in class discussions and sharing, in social events and in service projects. And we will work to involve the adults in our lives as we build a sense of community amongst ourselves, as a part of the larger church, and as a part of the community around us.
The Program
Two groups meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 AM. Our Sunday morning component is very experiential. We use games, stories, movie clips and role plays to draw the students into an issue or tension like acceptance or peer pressure. We talk about the way the students experience the issue in their own lives. We then move to a discussion of the scriptures and the traditions of the church in order to find a way through the tensions and the issues. Our goal is always to help the students to recognize that God is active in their lives and that God is reaching out to them in love. This year our program will also include evening events for the Youth on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. These events will include movie nights, picnics, and trips to local attractions. We will be inviting youth from other downtown churches to join us for some of these events. We will also be scheduling regular service projects in and around the Frederick area. These events provide opportunities for the youth to live out the lessons that we are learning in the classroom. |
