Pastoral Care

Coordinators: Melanie Eyler and Jackie Gambill

All Saints’ is a caring community, and Pastoral Care is one expression of that caring. In a large church, a Pastoral Care Team helps reassure people that intimacy will still be there. We are all part of this ministry because our baptismal vows involve our promise to care for each other and others around us.

Pastoral Care Teams take the lead for the parish by providing lay hospital visitation, lay nursing home visitation, homebound visitations and sometimes something as simple as a card. This ministry coordinates the Lay Eucharist Minster’s visits, the prayer shawl ministry, and ensures that meals are provided to those in crisis. Pastoral Care Team Members do not do counsel, therapy or give advice. They make references and recommendations. They provide caring support during a time of need.

Anyone can submit a prayer request using one of the prayer cards or by calling the church office. If you know of someone in need of a visit by either one of our lay visitors or the clergy, please call the office. Because privacy laws prohibit the hospitals from giving out information about who is in the hospital, we need your help in letting us know if you or a loved one is in the hospital. Please call the office.

The Coordinator and Pastoral Care Teams review the prayer list and visit requests each week and work to ensure that all requests are responded to. Another way you can help with this ministry is to notice when someone you know or who generally sits near you in church has been absent for several weeks. You are encouraged to call that person to make sure he or she does not need help or to call one of the clergy so we can make that important check up call.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Coordinator: Judy Haines

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) are lay people, licensed by the diocese, who take communion to our members who are homebound or in nursing homes. If you would like to become part of this ministry please speak to one of the clergy or to Judy Haines.

Pastoral Care Prayer Shawl Ministry
Coordinator: Jackie Marsh

The prayer shawl ministry meets on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Shawls are knitted or crocheted, infused with prayer, blessed and given to parishioners who are home bound, hospitalized, or in need of care and comfort for many reasons. This is a ministry that can be done at home as well as in a group.

Daughters of the King
Coordinator: Netta Paulson

The meetings are held the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 AM. The Daughters of the King is an order of prayer and service, open to all women in the Anglican Communion. The All Saints’ Chapter meets monthly on the second Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and continues the order’s mission to extend Christ’s Kingdom through prayer, service, and evangelism in the following ways:

Advent and Lenten Quiet Days
Stations of the Cross Fridays throughout Lent
Maundy Thursday Watch
Prayer Vigils
Daughters maintain the Nave tract rack
Cards and notes are sent to home bound and nursing home residents, as well as cards of sympathy and encouragement to parishioners.

Our Chapter continues to welcome new members.

Junior Daughters of the King
Coordinator: Jennifer Mariano

Junior Members of the Order of the Daughters of the King are girls and young women from 8 to 20 years of age. At age 20, Jr. Daughters may become senior members. The Order gives young women an opportunity to grow through fun and fellowship, prayer and service, and share a common Christian commitment.

The Health Ministry

team consists of a parish nurse, active and retired nurses, social workers, psychologists, nutritionists, recreational therapists, speech therapists, Medicare/Medicaid specialists and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who are ready and willing to serve our church community. Still in development and in need of volunteers, the team hopes to provide health education, screenings, programs and support to our parishioners.
