I have decided to follow Jesus.

I have decided to follow Jesus.

I have decided to follow Jesus.

No turning back, no turning back.

We’ve been having “Sacred Conversations” on Sunday mornings during adult Sunday School time. We’ve had three and there’s one more next Sunday.

These are NOT secretconversations. They’re for anyone who wants to come. They’re NOT scared conversations. We believe in what the bible says, in both Old and New Testaments: “Fear not. Be not afraid.”

No, these are SACRED conversations, conversations with God, conversations with Jesus. (That CAN be scary…)

In art, a “sacred conversation” (sacra conversazione) refers to a form, developed during the Italian Renaissance, typically showing the Madonna, Mary, with the infant Jesus. (PASS AROUND ICON)

“What if our conversations were more like the ones Jesus had with his mother Mary or with his disciples?”

But…WAS there a conversation between Jesus & these two sets of brothers? We don’t know. Jesus speaks, and they say nothing. They just get up and follow him.

In Mark: no talking, no miracles, no teaching beforehand.

But in Luke (chapters 4 and 5): PLENTY of teaching & preaching in the synagogue, healings and miracles (in Simon’s boat; “do not be afraid”) > lots of conversation

What’s up with that? What kind of conversation might Mark and Luke have with each other about this story?

What conversation do you or I need to have with Jesus?

What does Jesus want to say? Perhaps…

You say you have been saved.

You say you have accepted me as your Lord and Savior.

But are you really ready to follow me?

What do you want to say to Jesus? Is it time for a sacred conversation?

AND…if it’s time for you to follow Jesus (again),

you might want to let him know.

I have decided (again)…(right now)…(turning around)…
