Staying Connected While
Maintaining Distance: COVID-19

Worship & Online Gatherings
At this time when our spiritual needs are great, and when we are challenged to be physically pastorally present with each other, we must find new ways to reliably connect. We've increased our digital offerings, so that you can participate in worship and prayer opportunities throughout the week using YouTube, the conference call phone line, and FaceBook Live. It's helpful to create a weekly ritual of prayer that will provide a stable ground to stand upon.

Pastoral Connections
All Saints’ deeply values pastoral caring relationships. It is part of the DNA of this church. And now is the time to call upon and activate this strength in the community. We can be intentionally present with each other by taking a few extra steps to stay connected and communicate our presence by asking each other “How are you doing?”
- Read church communications
- Participate in worship and prayer
- Become pastors to those who serve with you
- Think about the people you know who might “fall through the cracks”: Reach out and call, text, FaceTime, send a card, type an email.
- Contact the clergy and pastoral care if you find a need (spiritual or physical) that you cannot address or seems to need additional support.

Stewardship
We know this is a trying time—many in our community and our world are battling with financial instability that can come with the difficult choice to keep physical distance for the greater good. For All Saints', this also means that we are preparing for our congregation's giving habits to change in the absence of an offering plate. If you're financially able, we encourage you to give what you can via our one-time PayPal donate button below, or to consider a recurring draw from your bank account by filling our our ACH form and emailing it to our accountant.

Preparedness Best Practices
Catherine Bigger is a parishioner who is a doctoral level virologist with about 30 years of experience. Some of that time has been spent in high containment laboratories and applied research in the broader biodefense and public health network of the country, some of it was spent working in basic research of hepatitis C virus. She has experience in infection control practices within a laboratory, so Mother Adrien asked her to share what she developed for my extended family with you.
These “best practices” are all about common sense and are by no means exhaustive. Add to them as you wish. The primary point is to get people thinking about infection control and mitigation steps. Also, no practice is a guarantee that you will not be infected; these concepts are simply best practices to reduce opportunities for exposure.
The Highlights
- Stay up-to-date on local changes.
- Have a network of friends and family close to you and check up on each other every day, even if to say “hi”.
- If you are healthy, and not in a high-risk group, step up and help those that are. But know that you are still vulnerable to infection and take proper precautions.
- Don’t play arm-chair scientist/medical doctor and listen to the professionals. This situation is not a drill, and it’s as real as it gets. The absolute goal here is to make it not like every other pandemic.
